While celebrating our 60th anniversary back in 2024, we posted about our long-time bookkeeper (or “den mother”), Gisele Derhak. Today, with both joy and sadness in our hearts, we celebrate Gisele’s last day working at Dom’s Auto Parts as she begins her retirement.
Gisele started at Dom’s back in 1994 – a whopping 32 years ago! At that time, the team was led by Mickey and Dominic Vetere in our pre-fire building, and we were in dire need of someone to handle our books. Gisele swooped in and completely rebuilt our accounting practices from the ground up, with most of her original procedures staying in place to this day (less the fax machine, anyway).
Gisele has been many things to many people at this company: a dedicated employee, a helpful coworker, a close friend, a reliable confidant, an esteemed mentor, a supportive mother, a loving grandmother… She is truly irreplaceable as both an employee and a member of our second family here at Dom’s. While we will all miss her dearly, we are so excited to send her off with this new journey on the horizon and to hear all the stories that come from it.
On July 15, we celebrated all things “Gisele”. Tributes were made, tears were shed, and gifts were given; it was a day to remember. Because no party is big enough to show our appreciation, please join us in congratulating Gisele on her next adventure!
